Michele Witchell 's instructions for the soldered china charms:
Take a bit of broken china, and if needed, edit the piece with tile nippers, taking off what you don't like or don't need. I file all the corners of the pieces with a file specifically made for tile just to slightly round off the points. Wrap the piece of china with copper foil. Fold the foil around the tile and burnish with a bone folder or similiar smooth item. Cover all areas of copper tape with flux. Melt a bit of solder with soldering tool and swipe down the top, bottom and side of tile, adding more melted solder as needed. Apply jump rings. Clean with solder remover (liquid sold in stained glass stores). Add extra beads, etc., as you like.
