There hasn't been much happening in the way of art lately. My time has been consumed with the work of opening the new store.
We continue to work on the estate we are moving, weekends have been spent boxing items, loading them in the truck and then unloading and sorting. Lots more of that to go. The house is three floors and all three floors are packed full. I know we will be finished at some point, but right now I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm surrounded by piles and piles of stuff. My body is sore, my eyes are tired and it is so difficult to be at my day job knowing all the work that needs to be done at the store.
It has been fun thinking about the new store. How it will be laid out, where things will go. Window displays, seating areas, a name, a logo, etc.
We've also been moving items from our Main St. store to the new store, doing a little rearranging. Unfortunately, the weather is not cooperating. This was the view from our store window on Saturday. The rain continues today.
One thing I have been able to do a little of in the evenings, to wind down before bed, is to work on my Vine Lace Cardigan. It is coming along, I've completed the body, collar and have started on the first sleeve (about halfway done). Just one more sleeve to go. It would probably move along quicker if I didn't have so much help.
He is either stealing my yarn or he has started this new thing . . . . he will jump from the back of the couch onto my shoulders are run around my neck as close as he can get, around and around. I start giggling and can't stop. He's a crazy little dog.
For those of you that are local and might be wondering where the second store will be . . . . the address is 147 SE 2nd St., Hillsboro. Just around the corner from our Main St. store. It will be called Sellers' Emporium. I'm hoping there will be space to have open art night there once we get things running. It will have books, records, vintage clothes, lots of stuff from the 1950's to the present including vintage craft supplies and I'm setting aside all kinds of funky, broken, antique pieces that can be salvaged for art. Our goal is to open before Christmas, of course the store will not be fully put together by then but we should be able to have it presentable enough for a shopping experience by mid December. Yes, that is a month away. It is not only the dog that's crazy, we are too.

Another store? Oh, my goodness. I lose track of you for a couple of weeks and then what? Missed you at Creative Circle, but now I know what you were doing instead. Take care.

Dawn,
I'm so very excited for you and your husband even though it is a ton of work. Good for you for being able to do what you want. I hope it works out well for you. The art tarts from the east side will have to come visit you and check out both locations. I've been wanting to check out your first one and now there will be two. Good thing I have a small home but I love antiques!!! Good luck, I hope things go well.
