Acrylic Paint Image Transfer

After seeing Claudine Hellmuth's YouTube video demonstrating image transfers using acrylic paint I had to try it for myself.  Well, this method seems to be the easiest transfer method I've tried and with the best success.  I think it is due to the consistency of the paint vs a gel medium for example.

I used Ceramcoat acrylic paint in Salem Blue and an image that is a copy from a vintage postcard.  I had previously copied the image onto plain white paper at Kinko's using their laser tone color copier.
I painted a medium amount of the paint, more on the thick side than the thin, straight from the bottle using a dry brush.  I then placed the image face down and burnished with my fingers.  I let this dry overnight and then today I wet the back using a make up sponge dipped in water and then rubbed with a paper towel, quite vigorously to remove the paper.  The image was left on the paint and the quality of the transfer is fantastic.  I wanted a little worn look so I scrubbed a little more and removed a little bit of the transfer as well.  I will seal this with gel medium after the page is completed but wanted to share my results so far.  The only thing I will do next time is trim the image closer, I'm not happy with the edges of this example but I will fix that by covering it up as part of my design.

You See Your Gypsy

You_see_your_gypsy An altered book page that I just finished tonight.  This is based on the AB Altered Books yahoo group's monthly theme for September Music Lyrics.  I have another idea brewing that I'm hoping to finish soon.  In fact, I've had so many inspiring ideas for pages that I may do entire Music Lyrics book . . . . . . or at least start one.
